The Grameen Pragati Foundation (GPF) carried out a holistic sanitization and distribution campaign in Raigad and various parts of Mumbai to promote menstrual hygiene and use of reusable sanitary napkins. The emphasis was on educating women and teenage girls on the importance of their menstrual health, environmental advantages of using reusable pads, as well as how to use/care for them correctly. Over this period, it interacted with thousands of females through workshops, school programs and community events offering them information and tools to enhance their personal hygiene during this time. With the help of local influencers, medical practitioners and community organizations; the foundation ensured that information on reusable sanitary pads reached many people across the entire region. This project aimed at improving menstrual hygiene management among women but also empowering them and young girls with sustainable ways of dealing with menstruation that are cost effective.
